Design of Experiments (DOE) is a systematic approach for testing multiple variables through a structured series of experiments. In practical terms, this might involve conducting a molding trial where an existing mold is subjected to various changes in process inputs to enhance part quality or improve cycle times. However, what do we do when the mold is still in development and not yet in production?
With the use of simulation, the injection molding process can be replicated, allowing for a broader range of variables to be tested, including part geometry, gate location, cooling design, material choices, and, of course, process parameters. This will explore how Moldex3D can facilitate a more automated approach to optimization.
What Attendees Will Learn?
- What various inputs can be incorporated into the DOE for optimization?
- How to interpret the outputs from the DOE to make informed decisions in the actual production process?
