Harshal Bhogesra, Director of Sales at Moldex3D Northern America, Inc, will be speaking on “Optimizing LSR Injection Molding with Moldex3D Simulation”—an essential session for anyone looking to enhance efficiency and quality in injection molding.

  • Date: Sep  11th
  • Time: 2:00 PM
  • Venue:  Expo Hall C
  • Topic:  Optimizing LSR Injection Molding with Moldex3D Simulation
  • Presenter: Harshal Bhogesra- Moldex3D Northern America Sales Director
  • Abstract:  This presentation introduces Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) injection molding, highlighting key factors like curing and viscosity, thermal management, and addressing design challenges such as heater placement, gate sizing and location, and vent placement leading to gas traps, short shots and their impact on flow patterns. The discussion centers on Moldex3D’s critical role in LSR molding, demonstrating how its simulation reduces tool trials, speeds up market launch, and fine-tunes processes, leading to less waster faster cycles, and cost savings. This efficiency boosts margins, revenue, and ROI. Illustrated within is a compelling case study that spotlights the Moldex3D simulation application in the molding of optical-grade LSR using a 4-cavity tool. The case study underscores the tool’s capacity to tackle the intricate filling challenges specific to LSR, including the dynamics of gas release during material heating, the departure of volatiles leaving undesirable residues on mold surfaces, and the propensity for knit lines. Furthermore, the paper delves into insightful discussions concerning jetting, the comparative analysis between horizontal and vertical presses, and the influence of gravity on flow patterns. The strategic approaches to achieve balanced flow, even in horizontal presses with meticulously engineered runners, are examined. This comprehensive exploration not only serves as an invaluable resource for engineers, designers, and manufacturers engaged in LSR injection molding but also underscores the transformative impact of Moldex3D simulation on the process, showcasing its pivotal role in realizing optimal results while minimizing risks and costs.
