Design of Experiments (DOE) are a way to test multiple variables using an organized and comprehensive array of experiments. In the real world, one could use a molding trial where an existing mold would undergo different process input changes to increase part quality or optimize cycle times. But what happens when the mold is not yet in production?

Using simulation, the injection molding process can be duplicated, and the variable range would be larger, spanning the part geometry, gate location, cooling layout, material selection and, of course, process parameters. This will be a look into how optimization can be more automated using Moldex3D.

What Attendees Will Learn?

  • What different inputs can be given to the DOE for optimization?
  • How can the outputs from the DOE be interpreted to make informed decisions in the real production cycle?
