We will present a 2-shot comparison study of a polycarbonate Adaptive Motorcycle Headlight Bezel for BMW. By comparing the simulation’s warpage results to those measured by the molder during QC and First Article inspections, we establish a reality comparison in predictive distortion due to processing using the advanced tools in Moldex3D.
What you will learn:
- Attendees will learn and understand how the 1st and 2nd shots interact with each other during manufacturing and there are concessions that needed to be made to allow the part to mold successfully
- Attendees will understand how controlling the cooling rate will affect the shrinkage rate and how that affects part warpage
- Attendees will see the predicted warpage values / trends and how they compared to the molder’s CMM study
