CAE software users often rely on experience to set molding parameters, aiming to obtain simulation results that meet expectations. On the manufacturing side, scientific molding is commonly adopted—this involves taking machine responses and actual processing parameters into consideration, and fine-tuning settings accordingly to improve process stability and product quality in a systematic way. In 2025, Moldex3D launched the Molding Window Advisor (MWA), a powerful tool that integrates CAE and scientific molding. MWA can automatically create and analyze systematic workflows, replacing some manual processes. With just one click, users can execute the analysis and obtain results in an instant. The workflow is illustrated in Fig. 1.

Molding Window Advisor can suggest optimal process conditions for users and generate molding curves based on filling and packing results under various settings (Fig. 2). The data allows users to intuitively observe and analyze the relationship between process responses and molding characteristics. Users can thus gain deeper insight into how key variables — such as pressure and time — affect product quality.

In injection molding, a molding window refers to the range of process conditions that allows for the stable production of quality parts. Molding Window Advisor will analyze the relationship between molding parameters and product quality under different conditions and define a viable molding window range (Fig. 3). This helps molding engineers quickly identify and correct parameters that fall outside the acceptable range. Additionally, MWA incorporates AI-based technology that enables users to quickly access quality predictions under various conditions, which serves as a valuable reference when adjusting molding parameters (Fig. 4).

Molding Window Advisor empowers users to find optimal parameters in a quick, efficient, and systematic way. When paired with smart molding, MWA assists users in addressing potential issues right before mass production. This helps accelerate product development and enhance manufacturing efficiency. Molding Window Advisor is supported in Moldex3D 2024 R4 and subsequent versions, and can now be downloaded from the App Center via the Moldiverse Store (Fig. 5). Try it out today and experience intelligent, automated scientific molding.
