Residual stresses are naturally generated in plastic parts during manufacturing—especially in injection molding, where polymer chains experience high deformation and become highly oriented. These internal stresses can significantly impact product performance, leading to issues such as reduced impact strength, lower chemical and wear resistance, environmental stress cracking, and visible defects like warpage or optical birefringence.

Annealing offers an effective, practical solution by gently heating and cooling plastic materials below their glass transition temperature to relax internal stresses. When applied correctly, annealing can dramatically improve dimensional stability, mechanical properties, and optical quality.

In this webinar, we will demystify the annealing process and demonstrate how simple it is to set up an annealing simulation in Moldex3D. Through real-world case studies, we will compare pre- and post-annealing warpage and optics results to showcase how simulation can predict improvements—and help you take the stress out of stress management.

What Attendees Will Learn?

  • What annealing is and why it matters in plastic part quality.
  • How to efficiently set up Annealing analysis in Moldex3D.
  • How to interpret stress and optical results—with and without annealing.
